
The
Fine Arts Museum of Córdoba is located in the left
wing of the old Charity Hospital, under the same roof as
the Julio Romero de Torres Museum.
Established in 1862, the museum contains many treasures
amongst its large collection of Medieval, Baroque, Renaissance,
Mannerist, Contemporary and Modern works. Visitors may contemplate
paintings by such renowned artist as Alejo Fernández,
Antonio de Castillo, Valdés Leal, Pablo de Céspedes,
Antonio A. Palomino, Equipo 57 and the brothers Rafael and
Julio Romero de Torres, among others.
Aqually outstanding and unusual for the genre are the collection
of sketches and prints dating from the 16th to the 20th
centuries.
Furthermore, there is an exceptional collection of works
by renowned Spanish sculptors from the 17th and 19th centuries,
such as Juan de Mesa and the local painter Mateo Inurria.
