The
Municipal Institute of Envitonmental Management, The Botanical
Gardens of Córdoba, is dedicated to the study of
the plant world and is responsible for a series of functions
and projects directed towards conservation and cultural
diffusion of nature.
These include social, educational and scientific functions
which are carried out through individual and collective
visits, educational programmes, cultural events, exhibitions,
conferences, congresses, scientific and promotional publications,
programmes for the conservation of phytogenetic resources
in Andalusia and botanical research.
Since its inauguration in May 1987, it has become and
institution with a major social presence and notable prestige
in the international sphere.
It is divided into the following areas dedicated to the
enjoyment of Nature: Arboretum, Agricultural Collection,
Systematic Colletion, Central Exhibition Glasshouses,
Paleobotanical Museum and Collection of Vegetable Fossils
in the Molino de la Alegría, Ethnobotanical Museum,
Andalusian Plant Germoplasma Data Bank, the Rose Gardens
and the Sensory garden.
The Hydraulic Museum will be opened, which is located
in the Molino de Martos.
