The Madinat Al-Zahra (Medina Azahara) it is one of the
most visited monuments in Andalusia.
Located only 5 kilometres from Córdoba, in its
days of splendour this beautiful palatial city was the
maximum expression of the power of the Omeyan caliphate
and the most important city of Al-Andalus.
Founded in 936 during the rule of Abd al-Rahman III, only
70 years after its termination it was sacked and destryed
following the fall of the Omeyans.
The Wall, the Vizier's House, the remains of the Mosque,
the Gardens and the Hall of Abd al-Rahman III offer visitors
a tour that recalls what was once the most beautiful Islamic
monument in Al-Andalus.
