Located only 5 kilometres from Córdoba, in its days of splendour this beautiful palatial city was the maximum expression of the power of the Omeyan caliphate and the most important city of Al-Andalus.
Founded in 936 during the rule of Abd al-Rahman III, only 70 years after its termination it was sacked and destryed following the fall of the Omeyans.
