The
origins of this palace date back to the 14th century, but
its current appearance is the result of a series of alterations
that have been carried out over the years. The exterior,
with its imposing high whitewashed walls, gives no hint
of its inner beauty, though you can look through the large
barred windows so typical of the local architecture.
Inside, the structure is based around twelve beautiful and
well preserved patios, resulting in its common name of "the
Museum of Córdoba Patios".
Among its many rooms, all of them named according to their
former or present uses, the most remarkable are the halls
and galleries, which are decorated with rich pottery collections
paintings, firearms, mosaics, antique furniture, sculptures,
ornamental tiles and leatherwork. There is also a vast library
containing more than 6000 volumes, including valuable hawking
books and ornately decorrated documents.
